EyeOn is divided into five business units FMCG, Process, High Tech, Marine & Offshore and Life Science where we serve customers in the Benelux area as well as the Nordics, Germany, Switzerland and England. Our customer base exists of customers like Philips, ASML, Electrolux, Jumbo, Mars, Johnson & Johnson, Heineken, Unilever, Coca Cola, DSM, Kemira, Aspen and many more.
Within the total consultants group, EyeOn has a group of consultants with specific knowledge and expertise in the area of data science and solutions. This group develops, design and implement software solutions at our customers as well as the development of analytical solutions for our customers. The solutions are on a wide variety from improvements in Excel/Access to cloud based planning applications like Anaplan, Jedox, Litic, Microsoft Azure (SQL / Blob storage), Python, Google and customer specific created solutions.
During the implementation of these solutions we see a struggle of our customers regarding the data. The data is incorrect, insufficient or their different data sources (also geographical) that are not aligned to each other. Also, some of the data is structured in data warehouses and other are unstructured data sources.
In order to make a more structured approach to handle and correct the data, EyeOn created a master data management approach. Looking to the future we noticed that this approach may not be suited for all our customers.

Objective of your research
The assignment is to:
- Look at the current approach and define the “next” level of a data framework.
- Identify a clear and feasible approach to handle different data sources from data warehouses to local files, from structured to unstructured data (such as social media).
Define/develop a possible algorithm (for example in Python, but it can also be an existing one) that will support us in handling the defined approach.
Approach and planning
It is the nature of EyeOn to take a pragmatic approach in our assessments and services. We believe the process followed and the insights provided are at least as important as the technological depth of the analysis. The assignment will therefore not focus merely on methodological aspects (and optimality) of a possible data management approach, but also on the steps taken to arrive at the results and the way results can be presented in an understandable, insightful way to consultants and customers. In each step of the process, interaction with the analyst and/or customer needs to be supported.
This assignment intends to further develop the data management approach that we want to apply to our customers. At this point we don’t have any existing algorithm that is used for support in this approach. We expect that using of an algorithm will lead to a significant performance increase to our customers, but also will gives us and the customer better insight in their data.
Concepts, the approach and the outcomes of the study and possible algorithm will be presented to and discussed with internal customers (business units within EyeOn).
The data science and solutions team has a strong basis and long history in handling different data and trying to optimize them. In order to make a real step, we are looking for a candidate that combines methodological skills, capability to think in terms of data management processes, with a good sense of presentation. This makes the assignment very challenging. The assignment will be highly rewarding because it has the potential to help a large group of companies to the next level of planning and insights.
The planned project start is to be discussed. The anticipated duration of the project is 6 – 8 months, full time.
